In a bid to encourage international tourism, the Vietnamese government has announced a new policy granting citizens from 12 countries visa-free entry for up to 45 days. This new measure will be in effect from August 15, 2025, to August 14, 2028.

The countries benefiting from this policy include Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

This is the latest move in Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to open its doors to more international visitors. Last week, the government also extended its visa exemption to state guests, scholars, experts, scientists, professors from foreign universities, world business leaders, celebrities, renowned artists and athletes, as well as honorary consuls.

Earlier this year, in January, Vietnam had already granted a temporary visa waiver for tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland, effective until December 31, 2025. A couple of months later, the policy was further expanded to include tourists from 12 other countries—Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland—offering visa-free entry from March 15, 2025, to March 14, 2028.

These strategic moves are part of the government’s broader plan to increase inbound tourism, contributing to the country’s economic growth target of at least 8% in 2025.

Vietnam’s tourism sector has already seen impressive growth, with the country welcoming 12.2 million international visitors between January and July—a 22.5% increase compared to the same period last year. With this momentum, Vietnam is well on track to meet its goal of attracting 25 million international visitors by the end of 2025.
